Belknap is a native of Damariscotta, Maine. She is the daughter of David Belknap and Louise Belknap. She went to Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. As an undergraduate at Middlebury College (Vermont), she was attracted to the act. Then she attended the American Conservatory Theater earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. Belknap is well-known for her television roles, which include regular series characters (related to ER and Third Watch), The Handler and regular characters. Other credits include appearances as a guest star, Law & Order Law & Order Special Victims as well as Without a Trace. Belknap made his debut in a feature film, The Reality Trap.
